Panchakarma is not a spa treatment; it is a medical protocol run over consecutive days under an Ayurvedic doctor. Preparation (Purvakarma) softens and mobilises toxins, the main actions (Pradhanakarma) remove them, and a structured diet (Paschatkarma) rebuilds digestion. Step by step

What happens during Panchakarma Detox Programme

No surprises. This is the exact sequence, in order.

  1. Step 01

    Day 0 — Consultation

    Pulse diagnosis, history, and prakriti/vikriti assessment with our BAMS physician. You receive a written plan and diet sheet.

  2. Step 02

    Purvakarma

    Internal and external oleation (Snehapana, Abhyanga) with herbal steam (Swedana) to move toxins toward the gut.

  3. Step 03

    Pradhanakarma

    The elimination step your constitution needs — most often Virechana (purgation) or Nasya (nasal therapy). Vamana and Basti are offered only on medical indication.

  4. Step 04

    Paschatkarma

    Graded diet from rice gruel back to normal food, plus lifestyle and herb prescriptions to protect the result.

Aftercare

Our 5-day residential-adjacent programme starts at NPR 32,000, the 7-day at NPR 44,000 and the 14-day at NPR 82,000, including consultations, daily therapies, herbal medicines and the Ayurvedic diet. Accommodation is arranged separately at partner guesthouses in Lakeside.

Is Panchakarma safe?

When supervised, yes. Every guest is screened first: we decline Panchakarma during pregnancy, acute infection, uncontrolled diabetes or cardiac instability, and refer you to a physician instead. Ayurvedic care complements medical treatment — it does not replace it.

Can I work during a Panchakarma programme?

Light remote work is possible during a 5-day programme. During Virechana days we ask you to keep the schedule clear.

What is the best time of year for Panchakarma in Pokhara?

Classically, at the seasonal junctions: mid-October to December after monsoon, and March to May before the heat. We run programmes year-round with seasonal adjustments to the protocol.
