Abhyanga — Ayurvedic Full Body Massage in Pokhara
Abhyanga is the cornerstone of daily Ayurvedic self-care: a rhythmic, four-hand-capable full body massage with medicated oil warmed to body temperature. Long strokes follow the direction of the arteries, circular work opens the joints, and marma points are held to settle the nervous system. It is the therapy we recommend first to almost everyone who walks in off the trail or off the Lakeside strip.

What happens during Abhyanga Full Body Massage
No surprises. This is the exact sequence, in order.
Step 01
Dosha consultation
A 10-minute pulse and questionnaire reading determines your constitution and the oil blend that suits it today.
Step 02
Warm oil application
Sesame, coconut or brahmi-infused oil is heated and applied from scalp to soles in a set sequence.
Step 03
Marma point work
107 vital points are known to Ayurveda; your therapist holds the ones relevant to your complaint.
Step 04
Herbal steam & rest
Optional 15-minute steam box opens the channels, followed by warm water and herbal tea in the rest room.
Oils we use
Bala taila, Ksheerabala or cold-pressed sesame, chosen by constitution and season.
Aftercare
Keep the oil on for at least an hour, avoid cold drinks the rest of the day, and drink warm water. Most guests sleep unusually deeply that night.

Questions
Abhyanga Full Body Massage — what people ask
How much does an Ayurvedic full body massage cost in Pokhara?
At Prakritik Ayurveda Spa, a 60-minute Abhyanga is NPR 3,200 and 90 minutes is NPR 4,400. That includes the dosha consultation, herbal oil, steam and tea — there are no add-on charges.
What is the difference between Abhyanga and a regular oil massage?
A regular oil massage works muscles. Abhyanga follows Ayurvedic sequence, direction and marma points, and uses a medicated oil matched to your dosha rather than a generic base oil.
Should I shower before or after?
Shower before. Afterwards, leave the oil on for 45–60 minutes so the herbs absorb, then rinse with warm — never cold — water.
Can I book a female therapist?
Yes. Female and male therapists are available; state your preference when booking and we confirm it in writing.
